Possible Causes
Open bake heating element, Burned wire at bake element terminal, Failed bake relay on EOC, Loose connection at terminal block supplying L2 to bake circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and verify the oven is cold before touching elements.
Step-by-step checks:
- Visual inspection: Remove oven racks and inspect the bake element (bottom of cavity) for blisters, cracks, or burn-through spots. Any visible damage means the element should be replaced.
- Test element: Remove the rear panel or unscrew the element from inside the cavity and gently pull forward. Disconnect wires and measure resistance; a typical 240V bake element reads 15–40 Ω. Replace if open.
- Check wiring: Inspect wires and terminals for burns or loose connections. Repair or replace damaged terminals.
- Control output: If the element and wiring are good, the bake relay on the EOC may not be closing. With proper safety and experience, you can test for 240V at the element during a bake command; otherwise, have a technician test and replace the EOC.
