Possible Causes
Open oven temperature sensor (RTD), Broken sensor wiring harness, Loose or corroded sensor connector at control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing internal components.
- Access sensor: Inside the oven cavity, locate the temperature sensor probe on the rear wall. Remove its mounting screws and gently pull it forward to expose the connector.
- Check resistance: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance across its terminals. At room temperature, it should be about 1080–1100 Ω. If the meter shows OL (open) or a very high reading, the sensor is defective and must be replaced.
- Inspect harness: If the sensor tests good, trace the harness from the sensor to the EOC. Look for breaks, burns, or pinched sections, especially where it passes through the rear oven wall.
- Connector check: Remove the back panel of the range to access the control board. Verify the sensor connector is fully seated and free of corrosion. Reseat the connector.
- Board check: If wiring and sensor are good but F3 persists, the sensor input circuit on the EOC may be faulty. Replace the EOC.
Note: Always reinstall the sensor with its original screws and ensure the gasket or insulation is intact to prevent heat loss.
