Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Moisture intrusion in sensor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before testing.
- Sensor resistance test: Remove the oven temperature sensor from the rear wall inside the cavity and disconnect it. Measure resistance at room temperature. A reading significantly below 1000 Ω or near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor.
- Check for shorts: Inspect the sensor wiring where it passes through the rear oven wall and behind the unit. Look for melted insulation or wires touching the metal chassis.
- Connector inspection: Dry any moisture in the connector and clean with isopropyl alcohol if contaminated with grease or spills.
- Replace sensor: If resistance is out of spec or wiring is damaged at the sensor, replace the sensor assembly. Route the new harness away from hot surfaces and sharp edges.
- Control board: If a known-good sensor still triggers F4, the EOC sensor circuit may be defective and require replacement.
Warning: Do not operate the oven with a known sensor short; it can cause overheating.
