Possible Causes
Failed relay on electronic oven control, Internal control board logic fault, Power surge damage to EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing any panels.
- Power reset: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes, then restore. If F5 returns immediately, the control board is likely damaged.
- Inspect control board: Remove the rear access panel behind the control area. Visually inspect the EOC for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or bulging capacitors.
- Check wiring: Verify all harness connectors to the EOC are fully seated and not heat-damaged, especially the bake, broil, and power input connectors.
- Replace EOC: If visible damage is present or F5 persists after reseating connectors, replace the electronic oven control with the correct American Range part number for your model.
- Surge protection: After replacement, consider using a dedicated surge protector or whole-house surge protection to prevent future damage.
Note: Some F5 conditions are not field-repairable at the component level; the entire board is replaced.
