Possible Causes
Shorted keypad membrane, Damaged keypad ribbon cable, Liquid or grease intrusion into control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control panel.
- Visual inspection: Check the front control panel for signs of liquid spills, steam damage, or cracks. If the panel is warped or damaged, replacement is recommended.
- Ribbon cable check: Remove the control panel cover to access the keypad ribbon cable. Ensure it is fully inserted into the EOC connector and not torn or kinked.
- Clean connector: If there is contamination, gently clean the ribbon contacts and connector with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry.
- Isolation test: With power off, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the EOC. Restore power briefly. If F7 disappears, the keypad is defective. If F7 remains, the EOC is likely faulty.
- Replace faulty part: Replace the keypad/touch panel assembly or the EOC as indicated by the isolation test.
Warning: Do not spray cleaners directly onto the control panel; spray onto a cloth first to avoid future keypad failures.
