Possible Causes
Failed control cooling fan (if equipped), Blocked ventilation around control area, Overheated electronic oven control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool.
- Ventilation check: Ensure the oven has proper clearance per American Range installation instructions. Remove any items blocking vents around the control panel or back of the unit.
- Inspect cooling fan: On models with a control cooling fan, remove the rear panel to access the fan. Check if the fan spins freely by hand and is not obstructed by insulation or wiring.
- Fan operation test: Restore power and start a bake cycle. Carefully listen for the control cooling fan. If it does not run when the oven is hot, test the fan motor for continuity and proper voltage (use extreme caution around live circuits).
- Replace fan or EOC: Replace a failed cooling fan motor. If the fan runs but F8 persists, the temperature sensing on the EOC may be faulty and the board should be replaced.
Note: Continuous high-heat use without proper ventilation can shorten control board life.
