Possible Causes
Control lock feature engaged, Stuck control lock button, User settings not understood
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool before working around the control panel.
- Unlock sequence: Press and hold the designated Lock or Control Lock button (often for 3–5 seconds) until the LOC indicator disappears. Refer to the user manual for the exact button combination for your American Range model.
- Power reset: If the lock will not clear, turn off power at the breaker for 1–2 minutes, then restore and try the unlock sequence again.
- Button function test: If the lock button does not respond, the keypad may be failing. Test other buttons to see if they respond normally.
- Replace keypad: If the lock indicator remains on and the lock button is unresponsive, replace the keypad/touch panel assembly.
Note: LOC is usually not a fault but a user-activated feature unless it cannot be cleared.
