Possible Causes

Open circuit in lower heating element, Burnt wiring to bottom heater, Faulty power relay on main PCB, Overheated terminal block connection

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power by switching off the circuit breaker or unplugging. Verify no voltage is present before opening any panels.

  • Check for obvious damage: Remove the oven from the cabinet if built-in. Inspect the rear and bottom area for burnt smells or melted insulation near the lower heating element terminals.
  • Test the lower heating element: Access the element from inside the cavity (usually fixed with 2 screws at the rear). Remove the screws, gently pull the element forward, and disconnect the spade connectors. Use a multimeter on ohms to measure resistance; a typical Amica lower element is usually 20–60 Ω. If it reads open (OL), the element is faulty and must be replaced.
  • Inspect wiring and terminals: Check the wiring harness from the element to the main control board for burns, loose spades, or discoloration. Tighten or replace damaged connectors.
  • Check the main PCB relay: With power still disconnected, remove the top or rear cover to access the main control board. Look for a heater relay with signs of burning or cracked solder joints. Reflow cracked solder if you are competent with electronics, otherwise replace the PCB.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the element, covers, and secure the oven. Restore power and test in conventional bake mode. If E01 persists despite a good element and wiring, the main PCB is likely defective and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
