Possible Causes

Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Shorted wiring harness to sensor, Failed safety thermostat stuck closed, Defective main control board temperature regulation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the oven and allow it to cool completely. Isolate from mains before removing any panels.

  • Locate the temperature sensor: In most Amica ovens, the NTC sensor is mounted at the rear of the cavity, usually top-left or top-center, protruding through the liner with 2 screws.
  • Test the sensor: Remove the screws and gently pull the sensor into the cavity. Disconnect the connector. Measure resistance at room temperature; typical NTC values are around 500–1100 Ω at 20–25°C (check Amica service data if available). If it reads open, shorted, or far outside spec, replace the sensor.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the main PCB. Look for pinched, melted, or chafed insulation, especially where it passes near the oven cavity or fan housing. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • Check safety thermostat: On many Amica models, a safety thermostat (thermal cut-out) is mounted on the top of the oven casing. Verify it is not bypassed or shorted. It should be normally closed but open permanently if tripped on some models; replace if defective.
  • Control board check: If the sensor and wiring are good but the oven still overheats and shows E02, the main control board's temperature regulation circuit or relay may be faulty. Replacement of the PCB is recommended and should be done by a professional.
