Possible Causes

Misaligned door latch, Faulty door switch or reed sensor, Broken door hinge causing poor closure, Damaged wiring to door sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before adjusting hinges or accessing switches.

  • Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and evenly. If it sags or does not press tightly against the seal, inspect hinges for wear or bending. Replace hinges if necessary.
  • Locate door switch: On many Amica ovens, a mechanical microswitch or magnetic reed switch is located near the door frame. Access it by removing the front trim or side panels.
  • Test the switch: With the switch exposed, press it manually and check continuity with a multimeter. It should change state (open/closed) when pressed. Replace the switch if it does not operate correctly.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the switch to the control board for loose connectors or damage. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Adjust latch/striker: If the switch is good but not actuated properly, adjust the door latch or striker plate so that the door fully engages the switch when closed.
  • Test operation: Restore power and verify that the oven recognizes the door as closed and that E15 is cleared.
