Possible Causes
Mechanical damage from abrasive cleaning, Corrosive spills left uncleaned, Manufacturing defects in enamel, Prolonged exposure to moisture
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not ingest any loose enamel flakes. Allow the oven to cool before cleaning.
- Clean and assess: Gently remove loose enamel flakes and clean the area with a mild detergent. Dry thoroughly.
- Touch-up (minor): For small chips, use a high-temperature enamel touch-up paint approved for ovens, following the manufacturer's instructions.
- Avoid harsh cleaners: Stop using metal scrapers or highly abrasive pads that can worsen damage.
- Severe damage: If large areas of enamel are missing or rust is extensive, consult an Amica service center. Cavity replacement is complex and may not be economical.
