Possible Causes
Open-circuit lower heating element, Burnt wiring to lower element, Faulty relay on control board for lower element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before accessing internal components.
- Access lower element terminals: Remove the oven from the cabinet if necessary. Take off the rear panel to expose the lower element terminals and wiring.
- Check continuity: Disconnect the wires from the lower element and measure resistance across the element terminals. A typical Ariston lower element reads between 20–60 Ω. Infinite resistance indicates a failed element.
- Inspect wiring: Look for burnt spade connectors, melted insulation, or loose terminals. Replace any damaged connectors and trim back burnt wire before fitting new terminals.
- Replace element if open: Remove the fixing screws inside the oven cavity (often at the rear or bottom). Carefully pull the element out, transfer any brackets, and install the new Ariston lower heating element. Ensure it sits correctly in its supports.
- Check control board output: If the element tests good, the fault may be on the PCB. With power restored and extreme caution, verify that the board sends voltage to the element when a conventional bake mode is selected. If not, the board/relay is defective and should be replaced.
Note: Elements can fail intermittently before going completely open. If the oven heats sometimes and then trips the error, replacement is still recommended.
