Possible Causes
Defective touch control panel, Damaged ribbon cable between UI and main PCB, Liquid ingress into control panel, Faulty UI microcontroller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains before removing the control panel.
- Inspect for moisture: Check around the control panel for signs of steam or liquid ingress. If the panel is wet, allow it to dry completely for 24 hours with power disconnected.
- Check ribbon cable: Remove the control panel fascia and inspect the flat ribbon cable between the UI board and main PCB. Ensure it is fully seated and not damaged or burnt.
- Clean contacts: If the ribbon is oxidized, gently clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and reinsert firmly.
- Test button response: With the oven reassembled and powered, test each button or touch area. If some keys do not respond or trigger random functions, the UI board is likely faulty.
- Replace UI board: Disconnect the oven from power again, remove the control panel, and swap the user interface PCB or complete touch module with a genuine Ariston replacement. Transfer any seals or brackets.
- Recalibration: Some touch panels require a calibration or reset sequence (refer to the service manual). Perform this after installation.
