Possible Causes

Stuck door lock mechanism, Failed lock motor not returning to open position, Faulty lock feedback switch, Control board not sending unlock signal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off power and allow the oven to cool completely before attempting to open a locked door.

  • Power reset: Turn off the oven at the mains for 10–15 minutes, then restore power. Some models will attempt to reset the lock on power-up.
  • Manual release: Consult the user or service manual for the manual door release procedure. Many Ariston ovens have a mechanical release accessible from the top or through the front panel using a tool.
  • Access lock assembly: Once the door is open, disconnect power again, remove the top/front cover, and inspect the lock mechanism for signs of overheating, deformation, or broken parts.
  • Test lock motor and switches: Measure resistance of the lock motor and verify continuity of the lock position switches. Replace the lock assembly if any component is defective.
  • Check PCB outputs: If the lock assembly is good, the main control board may not be driving the lock correctly. Replace the PCB if necessary.

Warning: Do not attempt to force the door open with tools; this can shatter the glass and cause injury.
