Possible Causes
Heating element insulation breakdown to earth, Pinched or bare live wire touching chassis, Moisture inside elements or wiring, Faulty filter capacitor on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Disconnect the oven and investigate before further use.
- Visual inspection: Remove rear and top covers. Look for burnt wiring, melted insulation, or signs of arcing around elements and terminal block.
- Insulation test (if equipment available): Use a megohmmeter to test insulation resistance between each heating element terminal and earth. Low resistance indicates leakage; replace the affected element.
- Check cable routing: Ensure no wires are trapped between panels or rubbing on sharp edges. Repair or replace damaged cables and secure with clips.
- Moisture check: If the oven has been recently cleaned with excessive water or steam, allow it to dry thoroughly for 24–48 hours before retesting.
- Filter/PCB inspection: Inspect the mains interference filter and PCB for cracked capacitors or burn marks. Replace the filter or board if damaged.
Warning: Earth leakage testing should be performed by a qualified technician with appropriate test equipment.
