Possible Causes

Loose or damaged communication harness, Oxidized connectors on control boards, Failed user interface board, Failed main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing internal components.

  • Access control area: Remove the top trim and control panel screws to expose the main control board and user interface board.
  • Inspect harness: Locate the multi-wire harness or ribbon cable connecting the user interface to the main control. Check for pinched, cut, or burned wires. Replace the harness if damaged.
  • Clean and reseat connectors: Disconnect the harness at both ends. Inspect pins for corrosion or discoloration. Clean with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect firmly.
  • Check board mounting: Ensure both boards are securely mounted and not flexing, which can stress solder joints.
  • Power test: Restore power and test operation. If F6 returns, isolate by substituting the user interface board if available. If a new interface does not resolve the issue, the main control board is likely defective and should be replaced.
