Possible Causes
Food or grease buildup on elements, Spilled food on cavity floor or liner, Overheating wiring or connectors, Failing fan motor insulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you see heavy smoke or suspect an electrical burning smell, turn off the oven and breaker immediately. Do not ignore persistent burning odors.
- Inspect cavity: Once cool, remove racks and check for heavy grease or food deposits on elements and cavity surfaces. Clean thoroughly with appropriate oven cleaner (avoid spraying directly on elements or sensors).
- Check elements and wiring: Remove rear panel and inspect element terminals and wiring for signs of charring or melting. Replace any damaged connectors or wiring.
- Fan motor check: If the smell seems to come from the top or rear, inspect the fan motors. A motor with burned insulation smell should be replaced.
- Test after cleaning: Run the oven empty at a moderate temperature for 20–30 minutes with good ventilation to burn off any remaining residue.
