Possible Causes
Failed bake element, Weak gas igniter (for gas models), Open high-limit thermostat, Low supply voltage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: For electric ovens, turn off power at the breaker. For gas ovens, also shut off the gas supply if removing gas components.
- Check heating performance: Start a bake cycle and monitor whether the oven temperature rises. If it does not heat or heats very slowly, suspect the heating circuit.
- Inspect bake element (electric): Look for visible breaks, blisters, or burn marks on the bake element. Test for continuity with a multimeter; replace if open.
- Inspect igniter (gas): Observe the igniter during a bake call. If it glows but the burner does not light within 30–60 seconds, the igniter may be weak and not drawing enough current to open the gas valve. Replace the igniter.
- Check high-limit thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat (usually on the rear or top of the oven cavity) and test for continuity. Replace if open.
- Verify supply voltage: Ensure the oven is receiving proper voltage (240V for electric, correct gas pressure for gas models). Low voltage can cause slow heating and E3 errors.
