Possible Causes
Weak hot surface igniter, Failed oven safety gas valve, Blocked burner ports, Low gas pressure or closed gas shutoff
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and shut off the gas supply before removing gas components. Work in a well‑ventilated area and avoid open flames.
- Verify gas supply: Ensure the gas shutoff valve to the oven is fully open and other gas appliances are working.
- Observe igniter: Restore power and start a bake cycle. The igniter should glow bright orange. If it glows but the burner does not light within 30–60 seconds, the igniter is likely weak.
- Measure igniter current (advanced): Using a clamp meter on one igniter lead, check current draw. If below manufacturer spec, replace the igniter.
- Clean burner: Turn off gas and power, remove the bake burner, and clean the ports with a brush or compressed air.
- Replace parts: Replace the bake igniter if weak or cracked. If a new igniter glows but the burner still does not light, the oven safety gas valve may be defective and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
