Possible Causes
Blown thermal safety cut-out on oven cavity, Failed cooling fan motor, Blocked ventilation slots or obstructed rear of cabinet, Shorted temperature sensor causing runaway heat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the Balay oven from mains power by switching off the circuit breaker or unplugging it. Allow the oven to cool completely before removing any panels.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the oven has correct built-in clearances as per Balay installation manual. Remove any items blocking the top or rear ventilation slots. Do not operate the oven with blocked vents.
- Inspect cooling fan operation: Restore power briefly, start a heating program, and listen for the internal cooling fan (usually starts within a few minutes). If the fan does not run, switch power off and access the top panel to inspect the cooling fan motor and wiring. Replace the fan if seized or open-circuit.
- Check thermal cut-out: With power disconnected, remove the rear or top cover to locate the cavity thermal safety cut-out (small round or rectangular thermostat on the top of the oven cavity). Test it with a multimeter for continuity. If open and non-resettable, replace it with the correct Balay-rated part.
- Inspect temperature sensor: Locate the oven temperature sensor (NTC probe) inside the cavity (usually at the rear wall). Remove and measure resistance at room temperature (typically ~500–1100 Ω depending on model). If reading is shorted or far out of spec, replace the sensor.
- After replacement: Reassemble all panels, restore power, and test a low-temperature program (e.g. 100–120 °C) to confirm normal operation and that E001 does not reappear.
