Oven does not heat correctly, display shows E002 and beeps shortly after start

Safety: Isolate the oven from mains power before removing any covers. Capacitors on the control board may retain charge; avoid touching bare conductors.

• Access the sensor: Locate the temperature sensor probe inside the oven cavity (usually at the rear upper area). Remove the fixing screw and gently pull the sensor into the cavity to access the connector.
• Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature with a multimeter. Compare with Balay specifications (commonly around 500–1100 Ω at 20–25 °C). If the reading is infinite (open), near 0 Ω (short), or far from spec, replace the sensor.
• Inspect wiring: If the sensor tests OK, trace the sensor cable from the cavity to the electronic control module. Look for pinched, burnt, or broken wires, especially where the cable passes through the rear panel. Repair or replace the harness if damaged.
• Check connectors: Reseat the sensor connector on the control board. Clean any oxidation with contact cleaner and ensure a firm fit.
• Test: Reassemble, restore power, clear the error (if the model supports reset by power cycling), and run a preheat cycle. If E002 persists with a known-good sensor and wiring, the control module may be defective and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
