Oven display shows E005 and controls are unresponsive or partially locked

Safety: Disconnect the oven from mains before accessing the control panel. Static discharge can damage electronics; ground yourself before touching boards.

• Power reset: Turn off the breaker for 5–10 minutes, then restore power. Sometimes E005 clears after a full power reset if caused by a transient glitch.
• Inspect touch panel: Remove the front control panel trim (usually by opening the door and removing screws along the top). Carefully pull the touch control glass panel forward to access the ribbon cable.
• Check ribbon cable: Ensure the flat cable is not kinked, torn, or burnt. Reseat both ends (panel and main PCB) by gently unlocking the connector, reinserting the cable fully, and locking it again.
• Clean contacts: If there is visible oxidation, use electronic contact cleaner on the connector (do not soak the glass panel). Allow to dry completely before reassembly.
• Panel test: If E005 persists and some keys do not respond, the touch control panel is likely defective and should be replaced as a complete assembly compatible with the Balay model.
• Control board: If a new panel does not resolve the error, the main control module may have a failed interface IC and should be replaced by a technician.
