Possible Causes

Defective door lock motor or solenoid, Faulty door position microswitch, Misaligned door latch, Broken wiring between lock assembly and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before working on the door lock. Do not force the door open with tools; this can damage the glass and hinges.

  • Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Look for bent hinges or obstructions on the frame. A door that does not fully engage the latch can trigger E011.
  • Listen for lock motor: On pyrolytic models, start a cleaning cycle (with power connected) and listen for the door lock motor. If there is no sound, cancel the cycle and disconnect power.
  • Access lock assembly: Remove the top/front panel to reach the door lock mechanism near the front of the oven. Inspect the latch, motor, and microswitches for mechanical damage.
  • Test microswitch: With a multimeter, check continuity of the door-closed and locked-position switches while manually operating the lock. Replace the lock assembly if switches are intermittent or open.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the lock to the control board for breaks, especially where it passes near sharp metal edges.
  • Replace lock assembly: If the motor is seized or the mechanism is worn, replace the complete door lock assembly with the correct Balay part. Reassemble, restore power, and test both normal baking and pyrolytic cycles.
