Possible Causes
Worn rotary encoder, Contaminated or oxidized encoder contacts, Broken encoder shaft, Faulty connection between encoder and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing knobs or the front panel.
- Check knob and shaft: Remove the function or temperature knob. Inspect the plastic shaft for cracks or slipping. If the shaft is broken, replace the knob or encoder as needed.
- Clean encoder: Access the rotary encoder behind the knob. Lightly spray electronic contact cleaner into the encoder while rotating it to clean internal contacts. Allow to dry fully.
- Connector check: Ensure the encoder's connector is firmly seated on the control board. Reseat if necessary.
- Functional test: Restore power and test if turning the knob now changes settings smoothly. If the display jumps erratically or does not respond, replace the encoder.
- Board fault: If a new encoder does not fix E017, the control board's input circuitry may be defective and require replacement.
