Possible Causes
Open-circuit grill heating element, Burnt grill wiring or terminal, Faulty grill relay on control board, Overtemperature cut-out for grill tripped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate the oven from mains. Heating elements and terminals can have sharp edges and retain heat.
- Visual inspection: Inspect the grill element at the top of the cavity for visible breaks, blisters, or burn marks.
- Continuity test: Access the rear of the oven and locate the grill element terminals. Disconnect the wires and measure resistance across the element. Infinite resistance indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Check wiring: Inspect the wires and terminals for heat damage. Replace any burnt connectors and ensure tight crimps.
- Thermal cut-out: Some models have a separate grill thermal cut-out. Test it for continuity and replace if open and non-resettable.
- Control relay: If the element and wiring are good but no voltage is supplied in grill mode, the grill relay on the control board may be defective. Board repair or replacement is then required.
