Possible Causes
Drifted temperature sensor, Weak or partially failed heating element, Faulty thermostat or control algorithm, Heat loss due to damaged door seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Use an accurate oven thermometer for testing.
- Verify temperature: Place an oven thermometer in the center of the cavity and preheat to a known temperature (e.g. 180 °C). Compare the displayed temperature with the thermometer reading.
- Check door seal: Inspect the oven door gasket for gaps, tears, or compression. Replace if not sealing evenly around the door.
- Test elements: Ensure all heating elements glow or heat during operation. A partially failed element may still warm but not reach full output; measure resistance and compare with specifications.
- Sensor test: Measure the temperature sensor resistance at room temperature and at a known elevated temperature if possible. Replace if readings are out of spec.
- Calibration: Some Balay models allow temperature offset adjustment in the settings menu. Adjust according to the user manual if the oven is consistently off by a small amount.
