Oven trips the circuit breaker or RCD when turned on or during heating

Safety: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Disconnect the oven and investigate the cause. Risk of electric shock and fire.

• Visual inspection: Remove the oven from the cabinet and inspect the mains cable, terminal block, and internal wiring for burns or crushed insulation.
• Element insulation test: With a megohmmeter (insulation tester), check each heating element between terminals and earth. Low resistance indicates leakage; replace the element.
• Moisture check: If the fault occurs after cleaning or a spill, allow the oven to dry thoroughly for 24 hours before retesting.
• Mains filter: Inspect the EMI filter for cracks or burns. Replace if suspect.
• Professional testing: If you lack proper test equipment, have a qualified electrician or appliance technician perform insulation and earth leakage tests.
