Possible Causes
Open or shorted oven temperature sensor (NTC probe), Damaged sensor wiring harness, Loose connector at sensor or control board, Faulty analog input on electronic control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from the mains supply before removing any panels.
- Locate the sensor: The temperature sensor (NTC) is usually a small metal probe protruding into the oven cavity at the rear or top, secured with 1–2 screws.
- Check wiring and connector: Remove the rear panel or top cover to access the sensor wiring. Ensure the plug is firmly seated on both the sensor and the control board. Look for burnt or brittle insulation.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor plug and measure resistance with a multimeter. Typical Bauknecht NTC sensors read around 500–1100 Ω at room temperature (exact value depends on model; consult service data if available). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Wiggle test: While measuring, gently move the cable. If the reading jumps, the cable or connector is faulty.
- Replace sensor: If readings are out of range or unstable, replace the oven temperature sensor with the correct Bauknecht NTC probe. Refit screws and route the cable away from hot surfaces.
- Control board check: If the sensor tests good but F02 persists, the sensor input on the control board may be defective and the board will need replacement.
