Possible Causes
Tripped or faulty safety thermostat (thermal cut‑out), Cooling fan not running or obstructed, Blocked ventilation openings around built‑in oven, Stuck heating relay on control board causing runaway heating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the oven has correct ventilation gaps in the cabinet as per Bauknecht installation instructions. Remove any obstructions blocking air inlets or outlets.
- Inspect cooling fan: Remove the top cover to access the tangential cooling fan. Spin the fan by hand; it should rotate freely. Check for grease build‑up or foreign objects. If the fan is seized or noisy, replace it.
- Test fan operation: Restore power briefly and start a heating program while observing (from a safe distance) whether the cooling fan starts after a short delay. If it does not, check the fan wiring and connector to the control board. If wiring is good, the fan motor or control board output may be faulty.
- Reset or replace safety thermostat: Locate the safety thermostat (usually clipped to the top of the oven cavity or rear). Some models have a manual reset button on the thermostat; press it firmly to reset. If it trips repeatedly or has no continuity when cool, replace it.
- Check for stuck relay: If the oven continues heating even when switched off, the heater relay on the control board may be welded closed. In this case, replace the main electronic control board.
