Possible Causes
Open bottom heating element, Loose or burnt wiring to bottom element, Faulty bottom‑heat relay on control board, Damaged terminal block at element connections
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power before removing panels or touching wiring.
- Inspect bottom element: In some Bauknecht models the bottom element is hidden under the oven floor. Remove the oven floor panel (if removable) to visually inspect the element for cracks or burn marks.
- Access from rear: Remove the rear cover to access the bottom element terminals. Check for signs of overheating or loose connectors.
- Continuity test: Disconnect the wires and measure resistance across the element. Expect a reading typically between 20–50 Ω. Infinite resistance means the element is open and must be replaced.
- Check harness: Inspect the wiring harness from the element to the control board. Replace any burnt or brittle wires and ensure spade terminals are tight.
- Control board: If the element and wiring are good, the bottom‑heat relay on the control board may have failed. Replace the control board if no voltage is supplied to the element during operation.
