Possible Causes
Temperature sensor shorted internally, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Moisture in sensor connector, Faulty control board interpreting low resistance as short
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before testing the sensor.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Access the temperature sensor at the rear of the cavity and follow its cable to the control board. Look for pinched or damaged insulation touching metal parts.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. A very low reading (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
- Check connector: Dry any moisture and clean corrosion from the sensor plug.
- Control board: If the sensor measures correctly and wiring is intact, the control board’s sensor input may be faulty and the board will need replacement.
