Possible Causes

Overheating due to blocked cooling vents, Failed cooling fan, Faulty or oversensitive safety thermostat, Poor installation with inadequate ventilation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off the oven and allow it to cool fully before inspection.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure the oven is installed with correct clearances as per Belling instructions. Make sure front and rear vents are not blocked by cabinetry or foil.
  • Inspect cooling fan: On built-in Belling ovens, a tangential cooling fan blows air across the control panel. Remove the top cover and check that the fan spins freely and runs when the oven is heating. If seized or not powered, replace the cooling fan motor.
  • Clean air paths: Remove dust and grease from fan blades and air channels to improve airflow.
  • Test safety thermostat: Locate the overheat thermostat (often on top of the oven cavity). Some are manual reset (small button in the centre). If tripped, press to reset. If it trips repeatedly, investigate overheating causes and replace the thermostat if faulty.
  • Re-test: After repairs, run the oven at a moderate temperature and monitor. If it still cuts out, further diagnosis of control PCB and sensors may be required.
