Possible Causes
Seized fan motor, Worn fan motor bearings, Faulty fan motor capacitor (if fitted), Broken wiring to fan motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate the appliance from mains power before removing panels.
- Confirm fan not running: Set the oven to a fan-assisted mode and listen. If there is no fan noise and no air movement, proceed with checks.
- Access fan motor: Remove the rear panel inside the oven to expose the fan blade. Check if the blade spins freely by hand. Stiffness or grinding indicates motor failure.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure no loose screws or debris are jamming the fan blade.
- Test motor windings: From the rear of the cooker, access the fan motor terminals. Disconnect and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Inspect wiring and capacitor: Some motors use a start capacitor mounted nearby. Check for bulging or leaking. Replace if defective. Also inspect wiring for heat damage.
- Replace fan motor: If seized or open circuit, fit a Belling-compatible fan motor and refit the fan blade securely.
