Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock mechanism, Faulty lock position switch, Wiring fault between lock and control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Ensure the oven is cool and isolated from mains before working on the lock mechanism.

  • Check for obstructions: Inspect the door area for debris or warped liners that might prevent the lock bolt from moving.
  • Access lock assembly: Remove the top cover or front panel (depending on model) to reach the door lock motor and mechanism.
  • Test lock motor: Disconnect the lock motor and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Also check that the lock moves freely by hand.
  • Inspect lock switches: Many locks have micro-switches to indicate locked/unlocked status. Test each switch with a multimeter for correct operation.
  • Check wiring and connectors: Ensure all connectors are secure and wiring is intact between the lock and control PCB.
  • Replace lock assembly: If the motor or mechanism is faulty, fit a new Belling door lock assembly and re-test the pyrolytic cycle.
