Possible Causes
Aged mechanical thermostat out of calibration, Drifted electronic temperature sensor, Poor contact in thermostat capillary bulb mounting, Control PCB calibration error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power before accessing thermostat or sensor.
- Measure actual temperature: Use a reliable oven thermometer placed in the centre of the cavity. Compare readings at several setpoints (e.g., 160°C, 200°C).
- Adjust if possible: Some mechanical thermostats have an adjustment screw accessible from behind the knob. Small adjustments can correct minor errors; refer to service documentation.
- Replace thermostat or sensor: If the error is large or inconsistent, replace the oven thermostat (mechanical models) or temperature sensor (electronic models) with a Belling-approved part.
- Check sensor mounting: Ensure the sensor or capillary bulb is firmly fixed in its bracket and not touching the oven walls directly.
