Possible Causes
Burned-out convection fan motor, Seized fan shaft due to grease buildup, Faulty fan relay on control board, Open wiring to convection motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing the oven from the cabinet or accessing the rear panel.
- Check fan operation by hand: With the oven cool, remove the rear interior panel (inside the cavity) to expose the convection fan blade. Spin it by hand; it should rotate freely. If stiff or seized, clean or replace the motor assembly.
- Test motor windings: From the rear of the oven, locate the convection motor terminals. Disconnect and measure resistance; an open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Inspect for obstructions: Ensure no loose screws, foil, or debris are jamming the fan blade.
- Check wiring and relay: Inspect the harness from the control board to the motor for damage. If the motor tests good but never receives voltage in convection mode, the fan relay or control board may be faulty and require replacement.
