Possible Causes
Blocked cooling vents, Failed cooling fan, Misreading cavity sensor, Tripped high-limit thermal fuse
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely. Self-clean temperatures are extremely high.
- Inspect vents and cooling fan: Ensure all front and rear vents are clear. Verify the cooling fan runs when self-clean is started (listen for airflow). If not, test and replace the cooling fan.
- Check cavity sensor: Test the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature. Replace if out of specification.
- Test high-limit thermostat or thermal fuse: Locate the high-limit device on top of the oven cavity. Check for continuity; if open, it must be replaced. Investigate and correct the cause of overheating before replacing.
- Avoid overloading oven: Remove all racks and accessories before self-clean as per Bertazzoni instructions to ensure proper airflow.
