Possible Causes
Element shorted to ground, Pinched or melted wiring harness, Shorted main control relay, Moisture inside electrical compartments
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Leave the breaker off until the fault is found. Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker.
- Inspect heating elements: Look for visible damage where the element enters the cavity wall. A blister or burn mark can indicate a short to chassis; replace the element.
- Check wiring harness: Remove rear and side panels to inspect wires to the elements and fans. Repair or replace any melted or pinched wires using high-temperature wire.
- Test insulation resistance (advanced): Use a megohmmeter between each element terminal and chassis ground. Low resistance indicates a leakage or short; replace the faulty component.
- Dry moisture: If water or cleaning solution has entered the control area, allow it to dry completely before retesting. Persistent tripping after drying suggests component damage.
