Possible Causes
Shorted NTC temperature sensor, sensor coated with heavy grease causing false readings, stuck-closed heating relay on main control board, failed cooling fan causing internal overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the oven and disconnect power at the breaker. Allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.
- Visual inspection: Check inside the cavity for foil covering vents, blocked fan openings, or heavy grease buildup around the sensor probe at the rear wall. Remove obstructions and clean gently.
- Test the sensor: Remove the temperature sensor mounting screws and pull the probe forward. With a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature and compare to the specification in your user/service manual. A very low resistance (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor.
- Check cooling fan operation: Restore power briefly and start a low-temperature bake. Confirm that the internal cooling fan (behind the control panel) runs after a few minutes. If it does not run, disconnect power again and inspect the fan motor and wiring.
- Inspect control board relays: With power disconnected, remove the top or rear panel to access the main PCB. Look for a heating relay that is heat-damaged or welded closed (burn marks, melted plastic). If suspected, the board should be replaced, not repaired at component level by a DIYer.
- Replace faulty parts: Replace a shorted oven temperature sensor or a failed cooling fan motor. If relays are stuck or the board is scorched, replace the main control board (PCB).
