Possible Causes
Misaligned door latch, failed door lock motor, broken door switch, damaged wiring to lock assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working around the door lock mechanism.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Look for bent hinges, warped door, or debris on the door gasket preventing full closure.
- Inspect latch and strike: Examine the metal latch hook on the door and the strike/receiver in the cabinet. Straighten any bent parts and tighten loose screws.
- Access door lock assembly: Remove the top panel or front trim to reach the door lock mechanism (usually at the top front of the cavity). Inspect the lock motor and microswitches.
- Test switches: With power off, use a multimeter to check continuity of the door lock switch(es) while manually operating the lock. Replace if they do not change state correctly.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the lock assembly to the control board for breaks or loose connectors.
- Replace lock assembly: If the motor does not actuate or the mechanism is jammed, replace the complete door lock assembly.
