Possible Causes
Open grill element, overheated and tripped grill safety thermostat, loose wiring at grill element, failed grill relay on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven and grill area to cool completely before inspection.
- Inspect grill element: Open the door and visually inspect the top grill element for sagging, cracks, or burn spots.
- Test grill element: Remove the rear cover or internal top shield (depending on model) to access the grill terminals. Disconnect one wire and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Check grill safety thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat associated with the grill (often on the top of the cavity). Test for continuity. If open and non-resettable, replace it.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure all spade connectors are tight and not heat-damaged.
- Control board: If element and thermostat are good, the grill relay on the main PCB may be faulty. Replace the main control board if confirmed.
