Possible Causes

Door lock not engaging for self-clean, faulty pyrolytic temperature sensor, open pyrolytic heating element, failed self-clean relay on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool and disconnected from mains before inspection. Self-clean cycles reach extremely high temperatures.

  • Check door lock: Attempt to start a self-clean cycle and listen for the door lock motor. If the door does not lock, inspect the door lock assembly and its wiring.
  • Inspect pyrolytic element: Access the rear of the oven to locate the dedicated pyrolytic heating element (if separate from main elements). Check for visible damage and test for continuity with a multimeter.
  • Check pyro sensor: Some models use a separate high-temperature sensor for self-clean. Test its resistance and compare to specifications.
  • Control board: If lock, sensor, and element are good, the self-clean relay or logic on the main PCB may be faulty. Board replacement is usually required.
