Possible Causes
Partially open bake element, failed convection element with only top grill heating, incorrect power supply voltage, degraded insulation on element causing reduced output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool before testing elements.
- Verify with thermometer: Place an oven thermometer in the center of the cavity and compare actual temperature to the set temperature.
- Check which elements heat: During preheat, observe whether the bottom bake element glows (for visible elements) and whether the fan element heats in fan mode.
- Test elements: Disconnect one wire from each element and measure resistance. Compare to specifications; significantly higher resistance than normal can indicate a weak element.
- Check supply voltage: Have an electrician verify that the oven is receiving full rated voltage.
- Replace element: Replace the bake element or convection element if readings are out of spec or if they do not heat.
