Oven displays F2 and may shut off during or shortly after a bake or broil cycle; oven may feel excessively hot.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply (if applicable) and disconnect power at the breaker before testing components.
Steps to try:
- Allow oven to cool: Let the oven cool completely. Restore power and see if F2 returns immediately or only when heating.
- Check temperature sensor: Locate the oven temperature sensor probe inside the oven cavity (usually rear wall, upper corner). From the rear or control area, disconnect its harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~70°F/21°C), it should read around 1080–1100 Ω. If it is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace it.
- Inspect wiring: Check the sensor harness from the probe to the EOC for pinched, burnt, or broken wires.
- Check for stuck relay: If the oven continues heating even after being turned off, the bake or broil relay on the EOC may be welded closed. In this case, the EOC must be replaced.
- Ventilation: Ensure there is proper clearance around the oven per BlueStar installation instructions; blocked vents can cause over-temperature faults.
When to stop: If the EOC or high-voltage wiring needs replacement and you are not experienced with appliance wiring, call a professional.
