Possible Causes
Failed bake igniter, Open bake burner gas orifice, Faulty gas safety valve for bake circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas and power before removing burner covers or igniters. If you smell gas, stop and call a professional.
Steps to try:
- Test broil vs bake: If broil works but bake does not, the issue is likely specific to the bake igniter or burner.
- Observe igniter: Start a bake cycle and look for the bake igniter to glow. If it does not glow, test and replace it.
- If igniter glows but no flame: Replace the bake igniter first; weak igniters are common. If still no flame, the bake side of the gas safety valve may be defective and should be tested by a technician.
- Clean burner ports: Remove the bake burner and clean the gas ports with a soft brush or wire to remove debris.
