Bosch oven displays E017 and beeps, often related to door or lock issues

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the door or lock mechanism.

• Check door closure: Ensure the oven door closes fully and evenly. Look for bent hinges or obstructions around the latch area.
• Inspect latch: Open the door and visually inspect the latch hook and strike plate. If bent, carefully straighten or replace.
• Access lock assembly: Remove the top cover and front trim to access the door lock motor assembly (usually at the top front of the cavity). Check for loose screws or misalignment.
• Test lock motor: With power off, disconnect the lock motor and test for continuity. An open motor coil indicates replacement is needed.
• Check door switch: Locate the door switch (or switches) near the hinge side. Test with a multimeter for proper open/closed operation when the door is moved. Replace if readings are inconsistent.
• Reassemble and test: After adjustments or part replacement, restore power and run a self-clean or lock test if available to confirm proper operation.
