Bosch oven shows E305 and will not start a cooking program

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the door assembly.

• Check door fit: Verify the door closes flush with the cabinet and that the gasket is not preventing full closure.
• Inspect hinges: Look for sagging or bent hinges. Tighten hinge screws and ensure hinge arms are fully seated in the frame.
• Test door switch: Locate the door switch behind the front frame (usually near the top or side). With power off, remove the front trim as needed and test the switch with a multimeter while opening and closing the door. Replace if it does not change state reliably.
• Check latch: Inspect the latch hook and strike for wear or damage. Replace worn parts to ensure positive engagement.
• Wiring check: Inspect the harness from the switch to the control board for pinched or broken wires, especially where it passes near sharp metal edges.
