Oven does not heat in any mode, display and fan operate normally
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power (unplug or switch off circuit breaker) before removing any panels. High voltages are present even when the oven is off.
- Check heating element continuity: Remove the rear panel or access from inside the cavity (depending on model). Visually inspect the lower heating element for blisters, cracks, or burn marks. Disconnect the element terminals and test with a multimeter; a good element typically reads between 20–60 Ω. Replace if open or shorted.
- Inspect wiring harness: Follow the wires from the element to the main control board. Look for burnt connectors, melted insulation, or loose spade terminals. Clean and tighten connections; replace damaged wires with high‑temperature oven wire of the same gauge.
- Check safety thermostat / thermal cut-out: Locate the safety thermostat on the rear or top of the oven cavity (Brandt often uses a resettable thermostat). Test for continuity. If open and has a reset button, press to reset. If it does not reset or opens again, replace it and investigate cooling fan operation.
- Test control board relay: With power disconnected, inspect the main PCB for burnt solder joints or a stuck relay controlling the heating element. If the relay is visibly damaged or does not click when heating is commanded (test under live conditions only if you are qualified), the control board or relay must be replaced.
If you are not comfortable working with mains voltage or removing the oven from its cabinet, contact a qualified technician.
