Possible Causes
Faulty cooling fan motor, Blocked ventilation ducts, Open safety thermostat on top of cavity, Faulty cooling fan triac or relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Surfaces may be hot; allow the oven to cool completely before working.
- Check cooling fan operation: Access the top of the oven by removing it from the cabinet if necessary. Spin the cooling fan (not the convection fan) by hand; it should rotate freely. If stiff or seized, replace the cooling fan motor.
- Clean ventilation paths: Inspect the front and rear ventilation slots of the oven and the cabinet cut‑outs. Remove dust, grease, or obstructions that could restrict airflow. Ensure there is adequate clearance around the oven as per Brandt installation instructions.
- Test safety thermostat: Locate the overtemperature thermostat on the top of the cavity. Test for continuity. If open and resettable, press the reset button. If it trips repeatedly, investigate fan operation and replace the thermostat.
- Inspect control board fan driver: If the fan never runs or runs constantly regardless of temperature, the triac or relay on the PCB may be faulty. Visual inspection may show burn marks. Replace the control board if defective.
