Possible Causes
Faulty touch control panel, Loose ribbon cable between UI board and main board, Damaged rotary encoder, Faulty main control board interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel or glass fascia.
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes to allow the electronics to fully discharge. Restore power and test the controls again. Sometimes a software lockup clears with a reset.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front control panel (usually held by screws behind the door trim). Carefully disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable between the display/touch panel and the main control board. Check for corrosion or bent pins. Replace the cable if damaged.
- Check for moisture: Condensation or liquid spills can affect touch panels. Dry the area thoroughly and leave the oven powered off for several hours. Avoid using harsh cleaners on the glass panel.
- Replace UI board: If specific keys or the selector never respond but the display works, the user interface PCB or touch panel is likely faulty. Replace the complete control panel assembly compatible with your Brandt model.
